Transactions:
Demoted RP Gus James to Triple A San Juan.
Placed RP Gus James on the Global League 7-day disabled list, retroactive to 05/16/2038.
Purchased the contract of RP Gallin Krall from Triple A San Juan.
Placed 1B Naofumi Ohayashi on the 11-day disabled list, retroactive to 05/16/2038.
Purchased the contract of RF Giovanni Smith from Triple A San Juan.

Injuries:
SS Jose Ayala, Torn ankle ligaments, 7 weeks, 60-day DL
SP Robert Shepherd, Unknown injury, 4-weeks, 60-day DL
SS Brad Sims, strained PCL, 4-weeks, 11-day DL
MR Dustin McNeil, torn UCL, 11-12 months, 60-day DL
MR Gus James, tired arm, DtD/tired arm/2-weeks, 11-day Dl
1B Naofumi Ohayashi, DtD/strained hamstring/3-weeks, 11-day DL

Gus James is pretty much done for the time being. He is "fragile" and it is starting to show. He has had a great start to the season, but he recently has found problems staying healthy... for Ohayashi he is going on the 11-day DL and I will reevaluate then he is only Moderate, but that will add up. I don't want him to go down bigger more than that.

Other/Roster News:

GM Notes:
We are playing well, but so is everyone else. We can't gain games when the leaders of the pact are playing well. Last week they were only 5-5, they being Christiana and Wilmington. I don't feel like either one of these teams are as good as they are playing, but you never know. Sometimes fire strikes and when that does there is nothing you can do about it.

The offense has picked it up the past couple of weeks. I wonder if that means we are going to be one of those teams that can hit good pitching, but just can't handle bad pitching. I sure hope not. I am still shocked at how poor we played during the first month, despite playing better teams, there really isn't an excuse for what we looked like.

I am sort of concerned by our starting pitching. They do seem to be finding a groove a little, but I am thinking my scout might have over rated them... I shopped Gregorio around a while back and there was very little interest for him... maybe we just need Shepherd back so we have that true #1 who will be able to lead by example. I am just not sure. But Ying-Hua Ji needs to pick things up, he needs to pitch like the ace he is. He struggled last year to start the season, so I am hoping this is all that is happening this year. I just hope this isn't one of those cases where its struggle before injury...

Our offense was on fire this week. I hope this was our offense breaking out of their shell. If we can do half this good every week we will be in great shape to make some big noise this season. I like this team, I really do. I feel good about the players I put together. I am just nervous we aren't gelling and that will be a problem over the long haul.

On to another week... and we need W's. I am hoping our offense can continue hitting like we have been and score some runs... and then our starting pitching need to get their ERA's down. We aren't going to get very far with our #1 and #2 pitchers with ERA's over 5.30. To win our division or even make the playoffs we will need to 1) get our starters ERA down (4.79) and get our team's defense efficiency (.660). One thing I have always taken pride with is defense. I may have to go back over all the teams I have had to see what my lowest team defense eff has been (I did a quick look at the stats not sure I can see that info).

Lets get the W's.
