NL Player of the Week - Willie Gonzalez, RF, Miami (23-R .347/.359/.473) Had 13 hits with 1 2B, 2 HR, 0 BB, 5 SO, 1 SB, 0 CS, 4 R and 10 RBI in 7 G (6 GS)
PCL Player of the Week - Irv Hill, 1B, Los Angeles (28-R .309/.333/.493) Had 12 hits with 3 2B, 2 HR, 1 BB, 7 SO, 5 R and 10 RBI in 7 G (6 GS)

May 6 - Seattle lost at San Antonio, 9 to 8, for their 10th loss in a row.
May 7 - Al Johnson (21-R) of Kansas City pitched a 4 hit shutout at home versus Hollywood. He walked 1 and struck out 3. It is his 3rd shutout of the season, tying him for the most in Baseball. He is now 7-1 with a 1.55 ERA in 8 starts. The Royals won, 2 to 0, for their 10th straight win.
May 8 - CF Jim Sanders (24-R) of Brooklyn had 3 hits with a Grand Slam, stole a base and scored 4 runs at home versus Detroit. 1B Raul Donoso (25-L) hit a double and 2 triples, scored 3 runs and had 4 RBI. The Dodgers won, 18 to 8. Reigning NL MVP and Cy Young Award winner, Kevin Houde (27-R) started the game for the Tigers and gave up 6 runs in 3.1 IP, but managed to avoid being tagged with the loss.
May 9 - LF Dennis Rayner (27-R) of Sacramento had 3 hits with a triple and a home run, drew a walk, scored 3 runs and had 6 RBI at Dallas. The Solons won, 19 to 8.
May 10 - Seattle won at Oakland, 4 to 2, ending their 13 game losing streak.
May 11 - 3B Russ Jimenez (31-R) of Houston had 2 hits with a home run, scored 2 runs and had 6 RBI at home versus Salt Lake City. The Astros won, 12 to 2.
May 11 - Bob Showalter (28-R) of Brooklyn pitched a 1 hit shutout at Toronto. He walked 1 and struck out 3. At bat, he had a hit. The hit he allowed was a leadoff single in the 7th. Both base runners he allowed were erased on double plays and he faced the minimum 27 batters. It is his 2nd shutout of the season. He is now 5-4 with a 2.24 ERA in 9 starts. The Dodgers won, 5 to 0.
May 11 - Raul Alvarado (26-L) of Montreal set a new Major League record with 16 strikeouts at Boston. In 8 IP, he allowed 1 run, 4 hits and walked 3. He is the only Major League pitcher who has struck out 15 or more in a game and this is the 3rd time he has done it. He is now 4-3 with a 5.22 ERA in 9 starts. The Expos won, 9 to 1.
May 12 - Kansas City beat Denver at home, 5 to 2, for their 15th win in a row.
