The second half of the Rangers six game road trip takes place in Boston with a three game series against the Red Sox. The Rangers are 2-1 on this road trip and have won three of their last four. In the top of the first, the Rangers loaded the bases with nobody out. Burroughs singled to bring home the game's first run. Mincher went down swinging for the first out. Billings flew out to center and then Miller threw Harrah out at the plate after he had tagged up and tried to score.

In the bottom of the first, the Red Sox loaded the bases with one out, despite not having a base hit. Petrocelli then tied the game with a sacrifice fly. Griffin followed with the Red Sox first hit of the game, a two run double.

After three: Boston 3 Texas 1.

In the top of the fifth, Ford scored when Maddox grounded to short.

In the bottom of the fifth, Yastrzemski hit an RBI triple and then scored when Miller grounded to second.

In the bottom of the sixth, it was Yastrzemski with an RBI single.

After six: Boston 6 Texas 2.

In the bottom of the seventh, Casey Cox took the mound for the Rangers.

In the top of the eighth, Harrah kept the Rangers in the game with an RBI single.

But a perfect ninth by Curtis finished the deal.
