The Cubs begin a four game series in Boston against the Beaneaters with a double header today. The Beaneaters have the worst record in all of baseball and have lost 9 of their last 10. Chicago leads the season series 2-1. The Cubs are 6-5 on this road trip.

In the top of the third, Steinfeldt hit a two run triple.

After three: Chicago 2 Boston 0.

In the top of the fifth, a Sheckard single scored one. Steinfeldt then scored from third when Needham committed a throwing error while trying to pick Sheckard off of first. Slagle then delivered an RBI single.

After six: Chicago 5 Boston 0.

Mike O'Neill took over pitching duties for the Beaneaters in the top of the eighth.

In the top of the ninth, the Cubs added to their lead with an RBI triple by Schulte. Steinfeldt then got his 40th RBI of the season when he singled to score Schulte. Steinfeldt scored on a Sheckard double.

Brown then finished the complete game shutout as the Cubs out hit the Beaneaters 17-5.

Final score: Chicago 8 Boston 0.

In the bottom of the first, Chance booted a grounder for his 10th error of the season. But the Beaneaters failed to cash it in.

In the top of the second, the Cubs loaded the bases with one out. Noonan drew a walk to bring in the game's first run. Reulbach then delivered a run scoring single. Evers then beat out the 6-4-3 allowing Slagle to score. Tinker then brought home two with a double as the Cubs put up a crooked number.

Reulbach had a no hitter through three.

After three: Chicago 5 Boston 0.

In the bottom of the fourth, a Dolan ground out scored Bates as the Beaneaters had their first run before they had their first hit.

In the bottom of the fifth with one out, the Beaneaters finally got into the hit column when Good singled. The Beaneaters went on to load the bases with two out. But Bates lined out to right to end the inning.

In the top of the sixth, the Cubs added an RBI single by Slagle. Noonan then brought home two with a triple. Noonan would cross the plate when Reulbach grounded to first.

After six: Chicago 9 Boston 1.

In the top of the seventh, the Cubs continued to pour it on witha run scoring single by Sheckard.

Once again, Mike O'Neill came in to pitch for the Beaneaters in the top of the eighth.

In the bottom of the eighth, Reulbach issued his 40th base on balls of the season, walking Bridwell to lead off. Bridwell would go on to score on a Bates double. An Evers throwing error would give the Beaneaters two more runs. Dolan then brought one home with a single.

But it was way too little and way too late. Out hitting the Beaneaters 11-5 in the second game, the Cubs completed the sweep of the double header.

Final score: Chicago 10 Boston 5.
