Eric Wellwood (who might just be the best skater on the team) really will provide some depth for the Flyer's this year.
Halpern has good defensive instincts and will look toward making the opening night roster, but if not the price paid was not steep.
Upon competition of the trade
Wellwood was immediately offered a 3 year 2-way extension worth $550,000 in the NHL and $89,000 in the AHL.
Feeling good about the trade Shjon assigned one of his professional scouts to check out some free agents to see if there were any young players who fit his play style more than the current AHL crop.
