I have noticed that power play opportunities are counted every time a team gets a penalty, even if the penalty does not result in that team being short-handed (as when two players, one from each team, are sent off for a penalty at the same time -- presumably for fighting). I haven't checked yet, but I suspect that if a team scores under such a circumstance, the system may credit that team with a power play goal, when in fact, it was not even a power play opportunity. This problem means that reported information on power play performance (opportunities and goals) is not reliable.
