The ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS won their first World Series in 46 years, defeating the Atlanta Braves in 5 games.

The NEW ORLEANS BABY CAKES were relegated to the Pit of Despair. They finished 59-102, just one game behind the Lowell Spinners, who managed to stay alive despite losing their final nine games.

160 teams remain in Major League Baseball...

In Memoriam: New Orleans Baby Cakes

All Time Record: 2274-2572 (.469)

Best Season: 2027, 95-67, 23rd place

Best Hitter: Cyprian Majcherczyk (2035-2043)

A speedy third baseman, Majcherczyk (pronunciation unknown) has led the league in stolen bases five times. His 577 stolen bases rank him 19th all-time, just behind Ozzie Smith. He currently plays for the Texas Rangers, and even at age 34 he stole 24 bags.

Best Pitcher: Chris Blakely (2021-2032)

Blakely began his career as a shutdown reliever. As a 21-year-old in 2022, he saved 31 games with a 2.24 ERA and 0.87 WHIP. He then transitioned into the rotation, where he became the team's ace. In 2027, he was worth 6.4 WAR after a season in which he struck out 11.9 batters per 9 innings and posted a 2.61 ERA. He spent his final 5 seasons in Columbus, where he threw a perfect game in September of 2035.

Iowa Cubs 1B Joey Fetcher led the league with 55 home runs.

Mariners CF Ernesto Toro led the league with 8.3 WAR.

Asheville Tourists SS Valdinei Atade had a 41-game hitting streak, tying 2018 Corey Seager and 2043 Sergio Tio for the longest since the league reorganized.

Sacramento 1B Bobby Maglaras struck out 258 times, good for third most ever in a season.

Braves SP Zion Bethea had the worst season of his career, posting a 4.01 ERA and striking out fewer than 230 batters for the first time in his career. Now 37, he is a free agent following the season.

St. Louis SP Mike Woods won his second Cy Young Award, leading the league with a 1.76 ERA.

Akron SP TJ Gavagan went 23-3 with a 2.51 ERA and 208 strikeouts.

The Inland Empire 66ers were the best MiLB team, going 106-55 and finishing tied for 4th.
