09/13/1973 - Giants Turn Back San Diego, 4-2

San Francisco starter Ron Bryant pitched effectively against the San Diego Padres at Jack Murphy Stadium. The left-hander led his team to a 4-2 win. Bryant, now 10-12, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing 1 earned run. At 69-76, the Giants find themselves in 5th place in the NL West Division.

Dave Kingman, who is tied for 2nd in the NL in home runs with 33, chipped in for San Francisco with a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth off LHP Randy Jones. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 2 runs batted in.

"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Kingman said.
