You might be thinking of May 28, 1973. He threw 5 scoreless innings to close out (and win) a game that had been suspended due to curfew rules two days prior. He then pitched a complete game shutout in the regularly scheduled game. Between 1971 and 1975, he
averaged 336 innings pitched per year.
