Despite the team descending further into mediocrity (or so it seems), he put up a very good season. Unlike last year, he was a starter all year. His WHIP was also the lowest it's been in his time with the Tigers.

This year the Tigers weren't really a contender for the AL East crown as they descended further into mediocrity. This allowed the Red Sox to take it over the the defending AL champ Blue Jays.

Playoffs

In the ALCS, the Red Sox trounce the Mariners 3-1 while in the NLCS the Dodgers do the same to the Cubs by sweeping them.

The Sox prove to be no match for the defending champ Dodgers, as they take the Fall Classic in 5 games to win their second title in 5 years.
