The day after
St. Louis’ 3rd game seven win, they have to fly to
Quebec and play game one of the Stanley Cup. Not only do they have to play 60 minutes, but the score is tied at two after those 60 minutes. Overtime decides game one. Amazingly, no scoring in the first overtime! They would need a second extra period, which ends 5 minutes in.
Jason York scores for the
Nordiques to take the opener 3-2! If there is accumulated fatigue in this game, and im not sure there is,
St. Louis needs to be at zero!
St. Louis plays game two like they are at zero. I’m gonna assume they just didn’t have much in the tank for this one.
Quebec outshoots the
Blues by 20.
Paul Coffey gets 3 points.
Quebec wins 4-0.
York wins game one for Quebec!
Quebec opens the scoring in game three.
Zdeno Ciger followed his opening goal with another one and two assists.
Quebec scores three goals in a 3 minute span in the third, rendering a mini comeback by
St. Louis mute. 5-3
Nordiques win.
St. Louis, down 3 games to nothing, takes a 2-1 lead into the third. To win this series, they will have to go 7 games for the fourth time. After
Paul Coffey ties it, they would need to win an overtime game first. They can’t.
Zdeno Ciger scores minutes into overtime, the Stanley cup winning goal!
Quebec wins 3-2. They are the Champions!!
