February 2014:
The Lineup:
Pacioretty – Plekanec – Kane
Galchenyuk – Desharnais – Boyes
Bourque – Eller – Gallagher
Weise – White – Prust
Markov – Subban
Georges – Weaver
Beaulieu – Emelin
Price
Bryzgalov
Some smart trades and some roster tweaking have turned the plummeting Habs into a promising team. February say more upwards trending with a 6-1-1 record (33-23-6 total). This season the only player I was not able to get rid of was Briere because of his no-movement clause. He may be a buyout candidate. The 6th place Canadiens are not cup contenders but at least we are fighting to stay in the playoff race.
February 4th:
Dale Weise and Ryan White sign 2 year extensions with the Habs.
February 20th:
With the confirmation of looming free-agency, trading Markov was of the utmost importance. Pending restricted free-agent Eller was on the way out as well.
To Winnipeg:
Andrei Markov, Lars Eller, and 2014 6th round pick acquired from Washington
To Montreal:
Zach Bogosian
Winnipeg is currently just on the outside looking in like the Habs. They needed a roster shake-up and were looking to add elements to do that. A replacement for Eller will be needed by deadline.
February 21st:
Solving the missing center issue caused by my last trade.
To Pittsburgh:
Mike Weaver, rights to Josiah Didier, and rights to Brady Vail
To Montreal:
Marcel Goc
Traded one pending free-agent for another. The rights were throw-ins as Goc fills a needed void.
