Beauvais' HR Wins in 10th
Big Ox Beauvais came through in the clutch for Glasco. He got the only hit off of Mike McCabe (0-1) in his 3-inning relief stint, but it was enough to for a 5-4 10-inning victory over the Far Mountain Redhawks. RF Beauvais crushed his 5th homer of the campaign. Winning pitcher Jeremiah McDonald (1-0) put down the Redhawks without a hit in his two-inning outing. Beauvais collected 3-for-5 and drove in two runs. CF Hawk Gallagher led Far Mountain with 2 hits and 2 RBIs.
Starters Ernie McCain, Glasco's big 6-6 righthander, and the Redhawks Sonny Elliott were effective. McCain tossed 8 innings, allowed 7 hits and 4 runs (3 earned) with 7 Ks and only one walk. Elliott went 7, surrendered 6 hits and 4 runs, but only 2 earned.

The first place Athletics are now 10-4 this season, while the Redhawks slip to 6-8 and a tie for fourth place with Elnora in the RBU North.

Zalewski Fires Second Straight Shutout
Valmara's 34-year-old Zarek Zalewski (3-0) is making life miserable for RBU batters. He blanked Colfax in his last outing, now he has beaten the Elnora All-Stars 5-0. Zalewski gave up 9 hits, but no runs. He fanned 4 and walked only one in another fine performance. The Vipers could only get 3 hits off Elnora pitching, but they got 9 walks. A walk and two errors brought in the first run in the sixth. All-Star starter Carl Costas (1-3) stopped Valmara on just one hit in his 6 innings, but was the losing pitcher. He totaled 5 strikeouts and 5 walks. Wildness by reliever Stevie Howard led to a 4-run outburst in the seventh by the Vipers to put away the victory.

Valmara (9-5) broke a three-game losing streak and are in second place, just a game behind the Glasco Athletics. Elnora (6-8) had won the last three. The All-Stars (6-8) are in a tie with Far Mountain for fourth place in the RBU North.

V's Win on Salazar's Homer
Colfax's Flash Guidry was well on his way to a 3-1 victory, when Volusia's Alejandro Salazar suddenly put a stop to it -- the V's third sacker walloped his 5th roundtripper, a 3-run game-winning shot in the ninth to take the game 4-3. Salazar drove in all 4 runs. Lefty Raul Sandoval (2-2) pitched well and picked up the win. He tossed 8 good innings, permitted 8 hits and 3 runs, only 1 earned with 4 strikeouts and no walks. Guidry (1-3) suffered another tough loss, yielded 10 hits, while fanning 8 and issuing 3 bases on balls. RF Pat Lott paced the Blasters with 2-for-4 and 2 RBIs.

The last place Vigilantes (4-10) broke a three-game losing streak against Colfax (7-7). The Blasters are in third place, 3 games behind the RBU North leader Glasco.
