May 29 Debuts

Arcenio Leon, John Brebbia, and Paul DeJong.

I checked with the Vice Chair of SABR's Biographical Committee, which is the official counter of how many major leaguers are recognized. With these three players, they now have 19,002 players who have made their major league debuts.

I believe that Arcenio Leon was #19,000. The Tigers played the White Sox yesterday in Chicago. The Cardinals played the Rockies yesterday in Denver. Both games started at 1:10 locally. Chicago is in the Central Time Zone and Denver in the Mountain Time Zone, so that means that the Tigers' game started one hour earlier. Both Arcenio Leon and John Brebbia entered their games in the bottom of the eighth inning. (DeJong didn't come in until the ninth). The length of the Tigers game was shorter. So it is logical to conclude that Leon's entrance was earlier than Brebbia's.
