As the month of June comes to an end, the mood in Waffletown is cautiously optimistic as they sit in second place in the AC Central division at 43-36, 4.5 games back of the lead and just a half game ahead of Waxsaw for the final wild card spot. After a sub-standard start to the season (0-7 in the first week; 13-16 in Mar/Apr), the Syrups turned things around in May with a 17-9 run. With 2 games remaining on the June schedule, they sit at 13-11 and hope to avoid slipping back to a 500 record for the month.

While the team overall is performing fairly well (3rd in batting average, 1st in on base percentage, base running, runs against, started ERA and defensive efficiency), there really isn't any super standouts from an individual perspective; making it a true team effort.

Management continues to watch the waiver wire for potential upgrades, but with only 6000 points in the war chest, they aren't expecting to find anyone who could make a major impact on the squad.
