Waffletown has maintained a consistent yet unremarkable level of play as they head into the final month. After their play in June (15-12), July (12-12) and August (16-12), the Syrups hope to at least maintain their pace of play as it has kept them in the second wild card position in a tight AC Central race (all 5 central teams are still above .500 and rank 1-4 in the chase for the wild card spots).
At the plate, Johnny Pesky continues to swing a hot bat with his .342 average (still second in the batting race); while on the mound, the pitching triumvirate of Passeau (17-9), Harder (12-8) and Carleton (15-6) are providing a solid punch from the starting staff.
Reliever experiment Paul Dean also continues to impress in his role, with a 2-1 record, 7 saves, 66.2 IP, 59 hits allowed, only 10 walks, and 94 strikeouts with a 2.56 ERA.
