DETROIT TIGERS won the World Series, defeating the Cardinals in 7 games. The Tigers won game 7 with a go-ahead home run in the 7th inning by Chris Harclerode. It was his 2nd home run of the game, after he had hit just six in his entire career prior.

SOUTH BEND CUBS have been relegated to the Pit of Despair. They finished the season 46-115, 5 games behind the Vermont Lake Monsters for last place.

Notes:
Tigers rookie first baseman Juan Tapia led the league in home runs and slugging percentage. The 30-year-old was signed out of Cuba this past offseason and immediately took the league by storm.
Another exciting rookie was Quebecois center fielder Aydan Lortie of the Asheville Tourists. Lortie led the league with a .377 batting average, but he hit just three home runs and walked only 19 times.
Mike Trout hit his 800th career home run on July 22nd. His 815 home runs is behind only Stanton and Bellinger. Trout's teammate Bryce Harper has 734, and he is likely to pass Bonds and Aaron next year.
Auburn Doubledays SP Gordie Fisher led the league with 308 strikeouts.
The Greeneville Reds led the league with their .284 batting average. They finished in 30th place, a new best for the team.
The Charlotte Knights were the best MiLB team, going 108-53 and finishing in third place, just one game behind the Cardinals.
The Oakland Athletics were the worst MLB team, going 74-88 and finishing in 119th place. Their $87,604,000 payroll is lower than that of 29 minor league teams.
Through 12 seasons, the Buffalo Bisons have the best record of any minor league team, with a .561 winning percentage. They are followed by the Durham Bulls and Tacoma Rainiers.
The State College Spikes have the worst winning percentage of any team that has not been relegated. Their best finish was 123rd place in 2028 with 74 wins. They are followed by fellow New York-Penn league teams Vermont Lake Monsters and Tri-City ValleyCats.
