World Series Sweep to Tigers
Saturday, October 12th, 1907
It was a glorious moment at Washington Park III when Detroit claimed the 1907 World Series title with a 8-3 victory. Detroit players were jubilant as they swamped each other on the diamond after completing the fantastic sweep of the Brooklyn Superbas.

Chants of "Thank you, Tigers" reverberated all around the ballpark when it was over.

But in the losing dugout, sadness reigned. Commenting to reporters, the Superbas skipper described what it's like to lose. "Your heart is heavy... you are hurting... it's a very difficult time. And to be swept... it's embarrassing. You just want to forget it ever happened."

But it was a season to remember for the Detroit Tigers. Their season record was 100-54 and good enough for first place in the American League. Then they topped it off by winning the World Series 4-0.

What a year!
