PREDATORS GAMES 8-15

GAME #8 (18/10/2021)

Blackhawks 3
Predators 5

Shots on Goal: 27-29

Craig Smith scores a hat trick while Ed Sharp scores twice as the Predators offense carries them to their third straight victory. It was an excellent first period for the Predators that saw them outshoot the Blackhawks 13-7. Craig Smith gave the Predators a 1-0 lead five minutes into the game, while Ed Sharp made it 2-0 twelve minutes into the period. The Blackhawks would not go away and responded with a great period of their own, outshooting Nashville 11-7 and finally getting two late goals from Andrew Shaw, and Tomas Tatar. The latter would come on the powerplay following a silly roughing penalty from Ed Sharp. However, Sharp would atone for his earlier mistake scoring three minutes into the third to give the Predators the lead once again. Craig Smith would score 22 seconds later and would score later in the period to get the hat trick to much applause from the Nashville crowd. The Predators exploited the lack of depth on the Chicago blueline victimizing the third pairing of Morin and Hanson who were a combined -6 on the night.

Shots on Goal: 27-29

GAME #9 (20/10/2021)

Jets 2
Predators 0

Shots on Goal: 28-37

19-year old Stephen Garteig makes 37 saves to give the Jets a 2-0 win over the Predators. It was a hard fought first period, but the Jets broke the deadlock late in the period with a goal from Alex Broadhurst and assists from Jaxton Button and Jimmy Lodge. The Predators would play a very good second period, but Stephen Gareig was up to the challenge making 11 saves to keep the score 1-0 after fourty minutes of play. Nick Foligno was all over the ice registering five shots in just nine minutes before having to leave the game with an abdominal strain. Reports say the injury is not too serious and that he should return in about a weeks time. Coming out of the locker room, Jimmy Lodge would score unassisted early in the third period to give the Jets a two goal cushion. Stephen Gareig would do the rest making 13 saves in the period to record the first shutout of his young NHL career. Louis-Philip Guindon made 26 saves in a losing effort.

GAME #10 (22/10/2021)

Rangers 1
Predators 2 (OT)

Shots on Goal: 30-38

Louis Philip-Guindon makes 29 saves and Ed Sharp has a two point night as the Predators edge the Rangers 2-1. Filip Forsberg opened the scoring after a Dave Boland roughing penalty just minutes into game on a goal assisted by Brent Seabrook and Ed Sharp. Christopher Hudson would tie the game at the ten minute mark of a back and forth, faced paced first period. The Predators would have plenty of chances in the second but Kari Lehtonen stopped all fifteen shots directed toward him to keep the game a 1-1 tie after two periods. After an uneventful third period, the game would go to overtime where Ed Sharp who was buzzing around the Rangers net all game scored on a goal assisted by Sean Day and Nicklas Backstrom to give the Predators the 2-1 win. Ponuts Aberg also had a strong game for the Predators registering six shots in just over fourteen minutes of ice time.

GAME #11 (24/10/2021)

Predators 3
Jets 4

Shots on Goal: 31-36

Predators fall to the Jets for the second time in three games thanks in part to four second period goals by the Jets. Pontus Aberg gave the Predators a 1-0 lead at the ten minute mark of the first period in what was a very solid period of play for Nashville. Unfortunately, things would fall apart in the second starting with Aleksi Saarela’s goal four minutes into the period. Star winger Eric Braun and Jimmy Lodge would score ten seconds apart, giving the Jets 3-1 lead after scoring three goals in just 34 seconds of play. Ryan Olsen would add a goal before periods end to give the Jets a 4-1 lead after two. Kudos should be given to the Predators for not giving up as Erik Haula and Ed Sharp scored in the first three minutes of the third narrowing the lead to 4-3. However, that would be all the Predators get as the Jets would hang on for the 4-3 win.

GAME #12 (26/10/2021)

Predators 4 (SO)
Avalanche 3

Shots on Goal: 27-39

Predators get points from nine different players and eventually win in a shootout in a back and forth exciting affair in Denver. Jakub Voracek was in beast mode all game for the Avalanche registering twelve shots, and scoring two goals in the first period – a period which saw the Avalanche dictate the pace of play. The Predators refused to go away though, and Anton Blindh closed the deficit to one with a goal late in the first period. After an early Colorado penalty to start the second period play, Nashville would capitalize just fifteen seconds into the powerplay on a goal by Filip Forsberg. Stanley Dobson would restore the one goal lead for the Avalanche fifteen minutes into the second, but the Predators once again showed their ability to respond quickly as Erik Haula scored before periods end to make it a 3-3 game after fourty minutes of play. The Avlanche dominated the third period but Mike Smith shut the door making 15 saves in the period. After overtime solved nothing, Brett Mohler would get the shootout winner in a 6-round shootout as the Predators exited Denver with a 4-3 win.

GAME #13 (27/10/2021)

Predators 1
Stars 2

Shots on Goal: 28-37

Louis Philip-Guindon keeps the Predators in the game with 35 saves, but Nashville eventually loses 2-1 in an entertaining hockey game. The Predators would start strong and get the first goal of the game four minutes into the first period thanks to Sean Day, but then the Stars kicked it into another gear and proceed to dominate the rest of the period. The Stars would get sixteen shots on goal including goals from Alex Chiasson and Brandon Saad to give them a 2-1 lead after one. After a back and forth second period that saw no scoring, the Predators came out of the locker room after the second and fired 14 shots on net, but Tyler Demko stopped all fourteen to preserve the win for the Stars. Although he didn’t show up on the scoresheet, the Predators had a tough time containing Jeff Skinner who had seven shots on net for the Stars. Philip Holm played a solid game for the Predators in the loss.

GAME #14 (29/10/2021)

Predators 4
Blackhawks 6

Shots on Goal: 33-34

Rookie LW Keegan Trihey scores twice and adds an assist as Blackhawks offense comes alive and scores six goals in a 6-4 home victory over the Predators. Erik Haula would open the scoring just minutes into the game in what would prove to be an entertaining, high scoring period of hockey. Keegan Trihey would tie the game six minutes later, assisted by Francis Morin. The Predators would retake the lead fourteen minutes into the first on a goal by Filip Forsberg, but once again Keegan Trihey would score a goal in response to tie the game at two. J.T Miller scored for the Blackhawks before periods end giving the Blackhawks a 3-2 lead, despite being outshot 15-10 in the period. Spencer Watson would extend Chicago’s lead to two goals five minutes into the first, but the Predators would hang around as Alexandre Ranger would score his first career NHL goal to make it a 4-3 game heading into the third. The Hawks would restore the two goal lead early in the third thanks to John Klingberg, and Patrick Kane would ice it later in the period. A late goal by Craig Smith was irrelevant as the Blackhawks would go on to win the game by a score of 6-4. The pairing of Philip Holm and Colin Martinhook had a rough day going a combined -5, while Brent Seabrook was solid picking up two assists while going +2 in a losing cause. There was further bad news for the Predators as they found out Felix Gerard would miss one month with a neck injury. However, Nick Foligno is scheduled to return to the lineup for the Predators next game against the Blues.

Record After 14 Games: 6-7-1
