2021 PREDATORS DRAFT

1st round, 4th overall
Pick: Jyrki Antonen, C, Left, 6’0” 171, Blues A Espoo
Boxcars: 42GP 20-28-48 (Jr A SM)

Description: Raw, two way center from Finland. Possessing good instincts in the defensive zone and the tools to be a top offensive talent, Antonen has legitimate first line potential if he can put it all toghether. Very good instincts in his own zone. Has an active stick and will frusturate opponents with his ability to break up plays. Rarely gets caught out of position. Average one on one defender. Poor physical game. Has an accurate shot, but is really only effective with it from the slot. Possesses very good passing skills but below average vision limit his upside as a playmaker. Sometimes struggles to find the open spots on the ice. Great speed coupled with average agility and acceleration make him a good skater. Needs to go to the dirty areas of the ice more often. Needs to get stronger.

Best case Scenario:
1st line center
Worst case Scenario: NHL-AHL tweener

2nd round, 34th overall
Pick: Angus Soquila, LD, Left, 6’0” 159, Portage
Boxcars: 45GP 6-14-20 (MJHL)

Description: Lanky, all-round defenseman from Manitoba. Soquila has a nice package of tools in both the offensive and defensive zone but it is his skating (or lack there of) that will determine whether or not he becomes a legitimate top 4 defenseman or a career minor leaguer. Very good one on one defender. Rarely gets caught out of position. Needs to use his stick better in the defensive zone. Despite his size, plays a very good physical game. Is a good passer and sees the ice well. Has a howitzer for a shot. Poor skater. Projects to have below average speed. Has a slow first three steps. Lets his temper get the best of him too often. Is in okay physical shape.

Best case Scenario: 2nd pairing defenseman
Worst case Scenario: Career AHLer

3rd round, 64th overall
Pick: Niklas Khoroshun, LD, Left, 5’11 148, Vityaz
Boxcars: 3GP 0-0-0 (KHL)

Description: Small, all round defenseman from Russia. With a combination of solid defensive play and average offensive upside, Khoroshun has the tools to be a productive NHLer some day. Has an active stick in the defensive zone and frustrates his opponents with his ability to break up plays. Rarely gets caught out of position and reads the play well in his own zone. Average physical game, but serious concerns about his lack of strength make it hard to project to the NHL level. Good passer but below average vision hamper his offensive upside. Below average shot. Projects to have below average speed at the NHL level, but should make up for it with good edge work. Needs to get a lot stronger. Has decent stamina.

Best case Scenario:
#4 defenseman
Worst case Scenario: Career AHLer

4th round, 94th overall
Pick: Frederic Lundh, LW, Left, 6’0 212, VIK Vasteras HK
Boxcars: 30GP 1-0-1 (ALL)

Description: Big bodied, two way winger from Sweden. With size, physicality and decent offensive upside, Lundh has the potential to be an effective bottom six wnger in the NHL. Has a very good stick in the defensive zone, creates a lot of turnovers. Reads the play well in his own zone. Below average one on one defender. Good physical game, that should translate to the NHL. Has an fairly accurate and heavy shot. Is a decent passer but below average vision hurt his playmaking ability. Sometimes struggles to find the open areas of the ice. Is an average skater – has okay speed but is hard to knock off the puck. Is in good physical condition. Needs to be willing to go to the dirty areas of the ice more often.

Best case Scenario:
3rd line winger
Worst case Scenario: Career AHLer

5th round, 124th overall

Pick: Andrei Beriev, RW, Right, 6’3 193, Buran
Boxcars: 42GP 10-7-17 (VHL)

Description: Raw, offensive minded winger from Russia. Displaying flashes of brilliance in the offensive zone, Beriev has the potential to be a legitimate NHLer but has a long way to go, and needs to improve his defensive play first. Is very good with the puck on his stick and can make defenders look silly. Good accurate, heavy shot. Struggles to make the simple passes. Is able to find the open areas of ice. Poor one on one defender. Is okay posistionally in the defensive zone. Doesn’t sense danger well and often gets caught in the offensive zone. Projects to be an average skater at the NHL level, but is tough to knock off the puck. Average physical game. Needs to bulk up and get in better shape.

Best case Scenario: 2nd-3rd line winger
Worst case Scenario: Never reaches professional level

6th round, 154th overall
Pick: Oliver Cameron, C, Left, 6’5 218, Brandon
Boxcars: 69GP 7-16-23 (WHL)

Description: Huge two way center from Manitoba. Possessing good offensive skills and a solid defensive game, Cameron could be an effective NHLer but there are concerns about his upside. Decent vision, and very good passing ability make his upside as a playmaker desirable. Accurate shot, but is only effective shooting from the slot. Is decent working in front of the goalie. Has an active stick in the defensive end and can break up plays well. Is an average one on one defender, and is above average positionally. Projects to be an average skater at the NHL level. Needs to use his size a lot better – currently has a poor physical game. Is very strong, but needs to work on his conditioning.

Best case Scenario: 3rd-4th line center
Worst case Scenario: Career AHLer

7th round, 184th overall
Pick: Frederic Rodier, C, Left, 6’3 185, France U18
Boxcars: 28GP 15-21-36 (U18)

Description:
Tall, lanky, defensive minded center from France. Displaying very good instincts in the defensive zone, Rodier could become an effective bottom-six checker, but it’s his offensive game that will ultimately decide his fate in the NHL. Good one on one defender. Has an active stick in his own zone and breaks up plays well. Is a wizard in the face off circle. Below average physical game. Fumbles the puck around too often. Has an accurate shot, but is only effective in close range. Is an average passer but poor vision really hampers his offensive upside. Struggles to find the open areas of the ice. Is good at working the area in front of the goalie. Projects to be an average skater at the NHL level. Lets his temper get the best of him too often.

Best case Scenario: 3rd line center
Worst case Scenario: Career ECHLer
