For my British league, the idea I have in mind is 8 English teams in one conference then a total of 8 teams from Scotland, (all of) Ireland and Wales in the other conference.
Probably something along the lines of (team names where I can think of good ones):
Northern English Division
Liverpool
Manchester
Newcastle Brewers
York Vikings
Southern English Division
Nottingham Outlaws
Birmingham Bulls
London Monarchs
Southampton Admirals
Northern Celtic Division
Edingborough
Glasgow
