Chris Hernandez was the 1971 SJL Pitcher of the Year, is a 6-time All-Star, has a WPK career record of 152-101 with an ERA of 2.93, and is 3rd in career WAR for a pitcher after only future HOF'ers Cheol-han Lee and Jake Harris.
He has been one of the most beloved players among the fans for his entire career. But at age 39 he has found himself trying to fight his way back to big leagues after signing a minor league contract with the expansion Houston Cavaliers this past off-season. And it hasn't gone well. And now even worse, he has suffered a torn UCL and is expected to be out of action for 9-10 months. But realistically, he is more likely to be out of action for eternity as a big league ballplayer.
This almost surely means the end of Chris Hernandez distinguished career, and that is sad news for WPK fans everywhere.
