Walkers news: May 23 -- St. Louis 3, Quad City 2, 11 innings

Record: 26-13, 1st, 1.5 Springfield
Alan Dondero could not have picked a better time to collect his first hit of the season, his lead-off double in the bottom of the 11th inning leading to the winning run in St. Louis 3-2 win over Quad City at Busch Stadium (1997).
Coming into the contest 0-for-12 on the season, Dondero failed to reach in his first three at bats against the Thunder before leading off the bottom of the 11th with his double off relief pitcher Jake Diekman.
Edmond Americaan moved Dondero to third with a sacrifice bunt.
Bo Bichette's fly ball to the outfield was enough to bring him home.
The Thunder tallied the game's first two runs.
Carter Kieboom scored both runs for Quad City.
He led off the fifth with a homer off River Walkers starter Steven Brault.
Two inning later, reliever Dan Jennings walked Kieboom, who again was leading off.
A ground ball moved him to second.
Kieboom scored on a two-out single by pitcher Daniel Ritcheson.
Shutout on three hit by Ritcheson to that point, the Walkers finally came alive in the bottom of that inning.
Ritcheson was on the mound at the start issuing a lead-off walk to Carlos Vidal and unleashing a wild pitch which moved him to second before getting Tanner Kohlhepp to fly out.
Vidal advanced to third on the fly ball.
Brenan Hanifee replaced Ritcheson and his third pitch got passed catcher Miguel Gomez, scoring Vidal.
Hanifee got Jean Carmona to ground out.
But Rhys Hoskins hit a 0-2 pitch 402 feet over the bullpen in left field to tie it.
Brault worked the first six innings, allowing one run on four hits.
Jennings, Luis Polomo and Nick Lodolo all recorded to outs apiece to get the game through the eighth.
Jake Brentz took care of the ninth and 10th without allowing a run.
John Curtiss (2-0) pitched around a walk in the 11th, setting himself up for the victory.
