Carlos Andres Cortes snapped a 3-3 tie with a three-run homer off St. Louis starting pitcher Adonis Medina, and Grand Rapids cruised to a 10-5 win at the Polo Grounds (1923).
A single by pitcher Jimmy Nelson got things moving in the fourth for the Traders.
Pavin Smith drew a two-out walk to get Cortes to the plate.
He drove a 2-2 pitch from Medina over the right-field wall, 368 feet from home plate, to put Grand Rapids up 6-3.
The Traders other four runs all came in the sixth.
Kris Bryant did the bulk of the damage with a three-run homer off reliever Tim Hill.
Cortes, however, had drove in the inning's first run with a single.
Nelson took care of the first 4.2 innings, allowing three runs on 10 hits.
Robbie Ray (2-0) finished the fifth and worked a scoreless sixth.
Alex Wood (2.1 IP) and Durbin Feltman (0.2) combined to finish the contest.
