Walkers news: May 1 -- St. Louis 5, Springfield 4, 10 innings

Record: 15-5, 1st, 4 GA Springfield
Edmond Americaan singled off Springfield relief picher Dalbert Siri with two outs in the 10th inning to score Rhys Hoskins and give St. Louis a 5-4 win over Springfield at Busch Stadium (1997).
The victory gave the River Walkers two wins in their three games with the Prairie Fighters.
Hoskins had led off the 10th with a single and moved to second on a ground out by pinch-hitter Alan Dondero.
A two-out single from Jean Carmona moved Hoskins to third.
Americaan then hit a 1-1 pitch into right-center field to win it.
The Walkers had tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the ninth on a two-run homer from Jean Carmona off Springfield closer Dinelson Lamet.
A pair of first-inning runs had staked St. Louis to a 2-0 lead.
Springfield's Max Schrock smacked a two-run homer off Walkers starter Jimmy Lambert in the fifth to tie it.
A solo homer from Kyle Williams, off reliever Dan Jennings, in the seventh had put the Fighters up 3-2.
An RBI single from Wander Samuel Franco off reliever John Curtiss in the eighth made it 4-2.
Lambert pitched 5.2 innings, giving up two runs on seven hits.
Four relievers followed him to the bump -- Jennings (1.0), Tim Hill (1.1), Curtiss (0.2) and Brentz (1.1) -- with Brentz coming out of it with his second win of the season.
