Walkers news: June 28 -- Chicago 8, St. Louis 3

Record: 40-36, 2nd (Tied/w. Des Moines and Springfield, 2.5 GB Cedar Rapids.
Making his first Midwest Baseball League start of the season, Chicago's Michael Pineda allowed a single run while pitching into the eighth inning of an 8-3 win over St. Louis at Wrigley Field (1979).
With the victory, Chicago took the final two games to split the four-game series.
Pineda allowed three runs on seven hits over 7.2 innings. He struck out five and walked two.
However, he limited the River Walkers to a single run over his first seven innings, before allowing two in the eighth.
Pineda departed the game with an unknown injury.
Jordan Hicks handled the final out of the eighth inning and tossed a scoreless ninth for the G-Men.
Chicago seized control in the bottom of the second inning banging out four straight hits off Walkers starting pitcher Luiz Gohara.
Eduardo Escobar had a run-scoring single in the sequence, while another run scored on a passed ball.
The other run scored on a Brandon Crawford ground out.
Pineda cranked out an RBI double off Gohara in the fifth, making it 4-0.
The G-Men broke it open in the sixth, with a four-run outburst.
Escobar and Victor Caratini both had RBI singles. Crawford collected another RBI with a double.
