If my counting is correct, DuRapau is the 19,500th player to make his major league debut. If trends would go in the future as they have recently, I would have expected to see the 20,000th debut in late 2020. However, new roster size changes have been announced for next year. Instead of expanding to 40-man rosters in September, there will only be 28-man rosters. So I'm guessing that Mr. 20,000 will arrive in 2021.

Yes, there will be 26-man rosters during the main part of the season in 2020, but I don't think that one additional slot will make up for the loss of so many opportunities in September.
