Barrow was a West Coast Heavyweight with a decent punch and weak chin. Kirk fought most of his career in the Northwestern US, the peak came for him in a bout for the California State Heavyweight Title against Roger Rischer which he lost by way of tenth round TKO. Following his title fight, Kirk went on the road to Arizona, Texas and Germany where he faced tougher competition and suffered a KO loss to Cleveland Williams and a five round beating at the hands of Karl Mildenberger.
