Tuesday, April 9, Year II

We begin our first road trip of the season, which is also the shortest road trip in the history of Baseball. Not really a trip at all, just an excursion. We will play 2 games in Kansas City and then come back home for the weekend. The Royals won 2 of 3 over the weekend in Oakland. We split the season series with them last year, 6-6. So far, on the young season, Kansas City is 3rd in the PCL in scoring with 3.80 runs per game (Portland is #1 with 4.20!!!). They are 4th in fewest runs allowed with 3.00 per game (Portland is 8th with 3.60). This is their Home Opener.

Portland Beavers (3-2 .600 1.5 GB in 4th place in the PCL West) at
Kansas City Royals (3-2 .600 tied for 1st place in the PCL East)

POR: Terry Melton (27-R 0-1 10.80) All-Star vs. KC: Don Finley (26-R 1-0 3.68)

We were 1-1 against Finley last season, with 1 good game from him and 1 average one.

Melton was mauled in his season debut, allowing 5 runs in 3.1 IP.
