The Rangers have to be overjoyed that the White Sox are leaving town. Chicago is now 4-0 against Texas on the season and has now won 8 straight.

Dick Allen gets a sac fly RBI to put Chicago on the board in the first inning. Bill Melton followed up with a solo home run.

In the bottom of the second, Tom Bradley struck out Dick Billings. It waa Bradley's 60th strikeout of the season.

Pete Broberg struck out Dick Allen in the third to record his 40th strikeout of the season.

After three: Chicago 2 Texas 0.

Tom Bradley added to the Chicago lead with his bat as he stroked out an RBI single, his first RBI of the season, in the fourth inning. Pat H Kelly followed with a 2 run triple and then scored on a wild pitch.

The rout continued in the fifth as Hermann added a 2 run double and Broberg was pulled for Mike Paul.

The Rangers stranded runners at second and third in the sixth as their scoreless streak reached 15 innings.

After six: Chicago 8 Texas 0.

Jim Shellenback came in to pitch for Texas in the seventh.

Bradley struck out Biittner in the eighth to reach 10 Ks for the game.

Casey Cox was brought in to pitch the ninth as Chicago added another run. Then Horacio Pina came in to get the final out of the frame.

Jeff Burroughs ended the Rangers scoreless streak at 17 innings as he hit a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth. That gave him 30 RBI on the year.

Final score: Chicago 9 Texas 1.
