I don't know the exact formula, but it looks at how good your team is compared to what it achieves. So, to use the 2015 season as an example, if you win the World Series with the Phillies (with a roster the same as or similar to what they have), your score would be off the charts. Win it all with a team like the Nationals or Dodgers and you'll have a good score, but it won't be really high.

Similarly, if you even get into the playoffs, or close to the playoffs, with a bad team, you'll still have a decent score.

Miss the playoffs with a great team and you'll have a lousy score.
