Walkers news: April 14 -- Springfield 10, St. Louis 2

Record: 8-5, 1st (Tied/w. Des Moines), 0.5 GA Cedar Rapids
Springfield pounded out 10 runs on 17 hits as it downed St. Louis 10-7 at Busch Stadium (1997).
With the victory, the Prairie Fighters took the final two games of the three-game series against the River Walkers.
The Fighters built an early lead with single runs in the second (Jonathan Lucroy tripled off Walkers starting pitcher Jimmy Lambert and scored on a sacrifice fly from Keegan Thompson), fourth (Michael Brantley led off with a double and scored on a Lambert wild pitch) and fifth innings (Nate Traylor singled with one out and scored on Brantley sacrifice fly) to go up 3-0.
St. Louis trimmed the advantage by scoring twice in the bottom of the fifth. Christian Arroyo hit an RBI triple off Thompson and later scored on a J.T. Realmuto single.
But Springfield tallied twice in the seventh (Eric Hosmer with a sacrifice fly and Eugenio Suarez with an RBI double) and four times in the eighth to break it open.
Suarez had the big blow in the eighth, hitting a three-run homer off reliever Thad Ward.
Thompson (1-1) worked five innings, giving up two runs on six hits.
Drew Steckenrider handled the sixth before giving way to Jake Diekman got the first out of the seventh.
The rest of the game, 2.2 innings, belonged to D.J. Jefferson who allowed just one baserunner and posted his first save of the season.
