Tonight is the rubber match in Texas between the Rangers and the California Angels. This is the last game this season between these two teams.

Rumor has it that RF Tony Oliva will be looking to depart from the Minnesota Twins in the off-season.

The St Louis Cardinals have been mathematically eliminated from the post season.

In the top of the first, it was an RBI single by Spencer that put the Angels on the board.

In the bottom of the first, Maddox scored from third when Stephenson made a throwing error while Nelson was trying to steal second.

In the bottom of the sixth, Billings put the Rangers in the lead with a two run double.

After six: Texas 3 California 1.

In the bottom of the seventh, with a runner on third and one out, Rich Gossage took the mound for the Angels. Burroughs brought one home with a single.

Dave Sells took the mound for the Angels in the bottom of the eighth.

In the top of the ninth, with a runner on second and two out, Paul Lindblad took the mound for the Rangers and got Spencer to pop out to end the game.

The Rangers held the Angels to just three hits in the contest.
