In the top of the sixth, Howard ended a long Rangers scoring drought with a two run homer. One error later and Harrah added his own two run mash.

Mel D Queen took the mound for the Angels in the top of the eighth.

Lloyd Allen took the mound for the Angels in the top of the ninth. Maddox added to the Rangers lead with a run-scoring single. Mincher brought a run in with his own single. Howard added a sacrifice fly. A couple walks later and bases were loaded with two out. Kubiak lined out to center to retire the side.

Horacio Pina took the mound for the Rangers in the bottom of the ninth and easily maintained the six run lead as the Rangers finally got their first win.

Hand and Pina combined to hold the Angels to just four hits.

Final score: Texas 7 California 1.
