The Rangers host the Angels for the second game of the series. California has now lost three straight. The Rangers placed RP Steve Foucault and CF Elliott Maddox on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to 04/13/1973.

In the bottom of the sixth, Madlock hit a solo home run.

In the top of the seventh, Berry picked up an RBI on a sacrifice fly. Valentine added an RBI single for the Angels 10th hit of the game. A Torborg walk loaded the bases with one out. Alomar then brought in a run with a sacrifice fly.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Rangers loaded the bases with nobody out. Nelson lined out to first and there was one down. Harrah then hit a grand slam.

Mike Paul took the mound for the Rangers in the top of the eighth.

In the top of the ninth, the Angels loaded the bases with one out. Paul then walked Alomar on four pitches to bring in a run. Pinson then struck out and there were two down. Oliver then grounded to second to retire the side.

Final score: California 8 Texas 5.
