Today is the second game in the series in Chicago between the Cubs and the Phillies.

The St Louis Cardinals have traded SP Stoney McGlynn to the New York Giants for RP Moxie Manuel.

In the top of the first, Magee got his 100th hit of the season but Thomas was thrown out by Schulte while trying to score from second on the play. Titus did get an RBI single one batter later. Bransfield brought Magee home with a sacrifice fly.

In the top of the second, Brown struck out the side.

After three: Philadelphia 2 Chicago 0.

In the bottom of the fourth, Steinfeldt got a run-scoring double.

In the bottom of the sixth, it was tied up, thanks to a run-scoring single by Schulte. The Cubs then took the lead on an RBI single by Steinfeldt. Titus then dropped a Slagle fly ball and Schulte scored from third. The Cubs would then load the bases with two out but Brown grounded to short to end the inning as nine men came to the plate.

After six: Chicago 4 Philadelphia 2.

Ward led off the top of the seventh with a home run.

In the bottom of the seventh, Schulte knocked one in with a single.

Charlie Roy took the mound for the Phillies in the bottom of the eighth. A Hofman double scored one.

Brown finished off the Phillies in the ninth with the help of an unassisted double play by Chance.

Final score: Chicago 6 Philadelphia 3.
