Due to yesterday's rainout, the Cubs will finish their series in Pittsburgh today with a double header against the Pirates. The Cubs last win was on June 28.

Hofman led off the top of the fourth with a single for the Cubs first hit of the game. Schulte then executed a perfect squeeze play to score Hofman.

In the bottom of the sixth, Wagner was thrown out trying to swipe second. It was the 40th time this season Kling caught a base stealer.

In the top of the ninth, Schulte hit his 10th double of the season. But he would be thrown out at home by Beaumont while trying to score from second on a Slagle single.

Beebe pitched the perfect ninth to get the complete game shutout and end the Cubs six game losing streak.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Pirates got their first base runner of the game when Ganley led off with a double. Ritchey then tied the game with an RBI double.

In the top of the fifth, Leever issued his 20th free pass of the season when he walked Moran with one out. But Moran would be caught stealing second.

In the bottom of the fifth, Brown struck out Clarke to lead off and record his 60th K of the season. But Peitz would give the Pirates the lead with an RBI single.

In the top of the sixth, the Cubs tried a squeeze play but Chance failed to put the ball into play and Slagle was tagged out at home.

In the top of the seventh, the Cubs tried another squeeze play but Leever threw Steinfeldt out at home.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Pirates loaded the bases with nobody out. Leever then grounded into the 6-2-3 double play and the Pirates failed to score.

In the top of the eighth, Schulte gave the Cubs the lead back with a two-run triple.

Brown would go on to pitch a perfect ninth to give the Cubs a double header sweep.
