Monday, October 5th 1970 Mobile vs Alexandria 7:05pm

George Brunet(0-0) vs Fritz Peterson(0-1, 1.08)

Partly cloudy, 56 degrees, wind blowing out to left 9mph

Fritz Peterson too much for Mobile. For the second time in the series, Peterson held the Mobile bats in check. Both teams traded runs early, with Mobile scored a run in the 1st, Alexandria a run in the 3rd. Both scored a single run in the 4th. It was the 5th that did in the George Brunet and the Mobile Hustlers. The Aces Curtis Pride led the inning off with a meek ground out to the pitcher. Brunet then walked Marty Marion. Dave Watkins would replace Marion at 1st grounding a ball to SS to force out Pride at 2B. Ed Kranepool would then single moving Watkins to 2B. Jim Presley was next in the order. Presley is 2-2 for the game with a RBI single in the 1st and a triple in the 4th. Ball, ball, called strike, swinging strike, Home Run to left center 410 ft. Presley is now 3-3 and he's driven in all 4 of Alexandria's runs.

Mobile would try to mount a comeback in the top of the 9th Kirby Puckett singles, followed a batter later with a double by Lou Gehrig. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Doug Mientkiewicz grounded out to 1st. This allowed Puckett to score and move Gehrig to 3rd. With 2 outs, Josh Willingham went down on strikes. Game over Alexandria wins 5-3

Fritz Peterson went 8 strong innings, scattering 8 hits, 3 runs, 6 strikeouts, 1 walk. Javy Guerra entered the game with one on in the top of the 9th. He got the 3 outs to earn the save.

Alexandria is now up 3 games to 1, with one more game at the home park.
