He was in Cleveland's camp in 1972, then released.
Most major league teams in the '60s tended to use the previous season's uniforms in spring training and break out the new ones - whether they were new designs or just repeats - on Opening Day. That was when a player was expected to make it through a season in a couple of sets of unis.
The Indians were notorious for changing their uniforms (new designs in 1970, 1972, 1973, 1978). That shot of Hershberger is from '72 but he's wearing a 70-71 shirt.
