Denver Ed Martin joined Sam McVea in England and took part in a spectacular boxing carnival at London's National Sporting Club featuring a number of the top names in pugilism....the show was a success for the club but earned the American stars much less than they would have earned back home in New York or Los Angeles....Bill Squires defeated the number one contender for the European title in Raymond Berenger but was unable to secure a match with John L Gardner so elected to take ship back home to Australia to challenge Tommy Burns for his Empire title....Sid Russell decided to stay on when offered a bout with Norway's Bjarni Thorsen in Paris...
