Well another mid-Sept message indicating our playoff hopes are done. 1978 is over for the Jays but, we are starting to play some vets to see who wants to stick with the ball club heading into 1979.
We are 14 games back of Milwaukee and it is clear we need SP badly. Our second biggest need is to score runs and get on base. Sounds like a lot of work to be done :-)
Doug DeCinces has been joined by Paul Molitor as the teams' best performers hitting wise. Paul has also done a great job swiping bases with 46 so far this season. Unfortunately the double play combo of Molitor and Bucky Dent is currently on the DL. Meanwhile Doug has had his 2nd consecutive 30+ HRs & 100 RBI seasons. He will be with the Blue Jays for 2 more seasons guaranteed after he signed his 3 year extension before 1978 for $600K or $200K/per season.
