At the all star break in their second season in the top tier league, the Syrups appear to be hopelessly stuck in their sticky namesake. While the team and fans expected some fierce competition, they were hoping the team would be better prepared for the challenge. After a so-so month of April (10-15), and a slightly better month in May (13-14), the team appeared to turn the corner in June and managed to pull out a winning month (15-12). If the season had ended there, at least it would have finished on an upswing.

Unfortunately, the season isn't three months long and the schedule continued into July. As the temperature of summer rose, the Syrups record went in the opposite direction, and the team melted into a pool of goo and oozed to a 3-15 record, with 7 games remaining in the month. While some critic think the team would be best served to throw in the towel and shoot for a relegation spot to head back to Diamond league, the players think differently.

"We earned our way here..." said left fielder Billy Hamilton. "...and we know we're better than our record reflects. It would be easy to tuck tail and run back to the lower league..." he said. He paused and glanced around the clubhouse. While some players hung their heads in frustration after another loss, there was still a glint in their eyes that they still had a fight left in them. "...I don't think you'll find one guy on our squad who would be satisfied with that."

The lone bright spot for the team to this point has been the play of first baseman George Sisler, who currently sits 1 home run away from tying the single season team record of 29 set by Jo-Jo Moore in the inaugural season of 2020.
