In the bottom of the first, White put the Cardinals on the board with an RBI double. A two out single by Musial combined with a throwing error by Mejias scored White. It was the Colt .45s second error of the inning.

In the top of the second, Smith tied the game with a two run blast. Amalfitano put the Colt .45s in the lead with a sacrifice fly.

In the bottom of the third, White put the Cardinals back in the lead with a two run homer.

After three: St Louis 4 Houston 3.

In the top of the fourth, Spangler tied the game with a two out RBI double.

After six: Houston 4 St Louis 4.

Howie Koplitz took the mound for the Colt .45s in the bottom of the eighth.

Lindy McDaniel took the mound for the Cardinals in the top of the ninth. The Colt .45s loaded the bases with one out. Spangler flew to right for the second out. Amalfitano then popped out to the catcher to retire the side.

George Brunet took the mound for the Colt .45s in the bottom of the ninth. The Cardinals loaded the bases with one out. Musial went down on strikes for the second out. Woodling then grounded to second to end the inning.

After nine: Houston 4 St Louis 4.

Ed Bauta took the mound for the Cardinals in the top of the tenth.

In the bottom of the tenth, with a runner on first and one out, Phil Ortega took the mound for the Colt .45s. Javier hit a walk off RBI single.

The Cardinals had an even dozen hits in the win. For the second straight game, the Colt .45s committed three errors.

Final score: St Louis 5 Houston 4 10 innings.
