The season on the line, East Driftwood gave the ball to Alberto Sanchez (3-0, 3.67 ERA) with the hopes that he would clinch the season for them. To keep them in the running, West Driftwood turned to Tommy Crawford (1-3, 4.62 ERA). Crawford had not had the best season but if there was a time for a season-defining game, it was July 29th.

An Aaron Reisinger home run put East Driftwood up 1-0 in the bottom of the first. They added another two runs in the bottom of the second. Another home run in the bottom of the fourth, this time from Tye Shenton, put East Driftwood up by four. West Driftwood, desperately fighting to stay in the game, and the season, cut the lead in half in the top of the sixth. This was in vain as East Driftwood added runs in the bottom of the sixth and seventh to go up 6-2. Protecting a four-run lead, Jody Kolb took the mound in the top of the ninth. James Jefferson popped out to the mound. Austin Schlegl struck out (for the third time that match). And with Joe Chavez’s groundout to shortstop, East Driftwood had won the title with two games to spare.

W: A. Sanchez (4-0) L: T. Crawford (1-4)
