Greg Vallee returned to the mound in the hopes of sparking a comeback for West Driftwood. He was 2-0 with a 1.42 ERA. On paper, things were made easier by his opponent, Ben Castle. Castle was 0-2 with a 4.72 ERA.

After striking out Rick Welch, Castle gave up a walk and two singles before James Jefferson hit a base clearing triple to give West Driftwood an early 3-0 lead. Despite Castle settling down and recording seven strikeouts through the first three innings, he did give up a fourth run in the top of the third. Castle was relieved at the start of the fourth inning but replacement Bill Guenther managed to give up a fifth run as West Driftwood started to run away with the game. Vallee’s shutout was ended in the bottom of the seventh as Ryan Parton hit a two-run home run as Vallee started to run out energy. After 7.1 innings, Vallee was relieved by Chris Wilson. Vallee had only allowed four hits while striking out eight. However, Wilson gave up a two out home run to Daniel Chiadez, allowing East Driftwood to come within two runs. However, Jorge Turcios pitched a strong bottom of the ninth and West Driftwood were able to hold on for their first win since July 12th. That meant that Greg Vallee had earned both of West Driftwood’s latest wins.

W: G. Vallee (3-0) L: B. Castle (0-3) SV: J. Turcios (2)
