By mid-August things are not looking good for Mr Kaline. After hitting home runs in back to back games on July 10 and 12th to give him 398 for his career, Kaline has not homered since, a span of 126 at bats.
So it is now August 22 and Kaline needs 2 more homeruns to reach 400. He has brought his batting average up to .260 (112-for-430) and is now just 27 hits shy of 3000 with 2973 for his career.
