Bobby Otero (16-R), the young Dominican slugger we had pursued, but dropped out of the bidding after it went past $500,000, signed a contract today with the Brooklyn Dodgers. His bonus was $1,226,500!!!!! Maybe we will be sad that we did not go to $1.5 million, but at least he will be in the National League... By the way, the second highest bonus given to a player this summer has been $380,000.

Chapman tries to pick him off at 1st, but throws the ball away for an error and the winning run is in scoring position with no outs and their 3-4-5 All-Star batters coming up... Morris steals 3rd... With the infield in, Ricky Rodriguez grounds out to 1st, unassisted. Pedro Fuentes flies out to medium right and Morris tags up...the throw is true and in time!!!!! Dale Ainsworth!! But he hurt himself.... Howard McNeal will go into play left and Jeff Schottler will move to right.
