Wild Card Series Notes:
The Carolina Panthers beat the New York Jets 2-1, they’ll move on to face the Los Angeles Galaxy. The Panthers finished 4-3 in head-to-head matchups with the Galaxy – expect a closely contested series. 1B
Pablo Madera won the Series MVP – the current AL batting champ went 5 for 9 with 3 HRs and 6 RBI in the series… Hamza went 1 for 11 and was a non-factor.
The Chicago Fire earned the right to face the Jacksonville Jaguars with a 2-1 series win against the Seattle Sounders – Frodo went 3 for 11 with 2 HRs and 4 RBI in the losing effort… his is a bright future, and
C Johnny Alvarez won the series MVP with a 6 for 10 performance where he added a homer and 4 RBI – the 2nd overall pick of the 2074 draft is well on his way to becoming the superstar that many in the Chicago organization pegged him for.
The Vancouver Whitecaps will meet us in Los Angeles next after dispatching the Montreal Impact 2-1 in their wild card series – SS and former Laker, Sammie Fregoso had the series of a lifetime in a losing effort… he finished 6 of 11 with 3 RBI for the set, and
RF Reading Minor, a slightly above replacement level performer during the regular season, took home the series MVP honor off of a 7 for 11 performance with 2 HR and 3 RBI – something for us to look forward to, I guess…
Phoenix’s SS
Jess Alford punished the Pittsburgh Steelers over two games to lead the Suns to a 2-0 victory in the Wild Card Series – he finished 5 for 9, with a HR and 3 RBI. Alford, you may recall, came to Phoenix via trade in 2074 and has slowly worked his way into a solid everyday player (a stellar defender with an OK bat), even if he did finish the season at a 0.1 WAR. The former Nittany Lion will look to build on this performance in 2077.
