I started in 1917, and from the outset, it seemed that leagues closed in the way you would expect. However, now, the only active countries are the US and Canada, and I wasn't sure if other countries would eventually activate (along with their accompanying leagues) at some point. Is there any international component to Historical Season Mode, or should I expect the rest of the world to remain dark as long as I play?

Additionally, should I ever expect Junior leagues to appear or Semi-pro leagues like the AHL?

Thanks so much,

Long Term? Yes. Short term? No.

Building a historical database isn't easy. Hockey has not done a great job of record keeping a lot of things, and minor-league stats is one of them. I know it's something I personally want to see, but there's a lot of work that needs to be done before we get there.

It's just simple things - like how do you handle teams/leagues that fold mid-way through seasons (which really was a not-that-uncommon occurrence up until about 10 years ago)? International Leagues/player restrictions? Random Exhibition Games, etc?

Cataloging the thousands of players and rating them will also take a substantial work effort as well.

We're always looking at ways to make improvements and do have long term goals in mind, but again - it's going to take no small effort and a lot of time.
