1904 WASHINGTON SENATORS VS 1962 NEW YORK METS
The Senators have only lost one game in two series combined. The Mets were an expansion team in 1962 and went 40-120. The winner will face the 1981 San Diego Padres.

GAME ONE
The Mets scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to break a 2-2 tie and the Senators stranded the bases loaded in the topof the eighth. It was the Senators first road loss of the gauntlet.

Al Orth pitched a two hit shutout to send the Senators into the next round in the gauntlet. The Mets failed to score a single run in the final 19 innings of the series.
